Fuller House is a spin-off series based on the hit ABC family sitcom Full House (1987-95) created and executive produced by Jeff Franklin for Netflix. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) is a recently widowed mom to a 13-year-old named Jackson (Michael Campion), 7-year-old named Max (Elias Harger), and a newborn son named Tommy (Fox and Dashiell Messitt). After realizing she is unable to cope with the demands of holding a full time job as a veterinarian in addition to raising three kids, her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and childhood best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber), who is also the mother of a 13-year-old daughter (Soni Bringas), offer to move in to bring up her children.
I’d always heard that there was an unaired Full House pilot but I never had a chance to see it until I started renting the DVD’s so I could write this blog. Latest midi karaoke free download indonesia 2012 jeep ram. Since the first episode begins moments before the Uncles move into the full house, I wondered what events this unaired pilot would describe. And just why exactly was it never aired? Maybe we’d actually get to see how Danny’s wife died in a scene that was too gruesome for prime time? Maybe the sexual tension between Danny and his mother that’s suggested in the first episode would be explored (which could also be too gruesome for prime time)? Seriously, what’s the big mystery? Why’d they never air it???
Sadly, like all things Full House, the reality of the unaired pilot is that it’s just a big, lame, poorly put together disappointment. The reason the pilot was never aired is because Bob Saget, who was the producers’ top choice to play Danny, was contractually unable to take the part when the pilot was shooting and so the role of Danny went to another actor named John Posey. After the pilot was completed and the series was sold, Bob Saget became available after all and John Posey was kicked to the curb. The pilot itself is actually the same as the first episode. When I say the same, I mean exactly the same.
They literally just re-shot the scenes with Danny and patched the whole thing together, so any scene that doesn’t have Danny in it is actually footage from the pilot episode. There’s not a lot to say about the pilot that isn’t covered in the review of Episode 1 except that it’s actually pretty striking how much better suited Bog Saget is to the show than John Posey. Don’t get me wrong, I pretty much want to punch Bob Saget in the throat any time I see his big stupid grimace on my tv screen, but contrasting him with another actor in the role of Danny really does show you how much Bob Saget owns the role of a corny, annoying Dad. I think it’s fair to say that if John Posey had played the role of Danny in the series, Full House never would have caught on.
Full House Season 1 Episode 1
It’s kind of amazing how everyone on this show is so terrible and annoying, but somehow the combination of them all makes for this incredible spectrum of corny ass obnoxious bullshit that is sort of hypnotic or something. When I see John Posey in the role of Danny, I hardly think about punching him at all, and that’s why there’s no place for him in the full house. You gotta wonder what just barely getting passed over for the role of Danny Tanner does to a person. John Posey must either feel like he got totally jilted or that he dodged the biggest bullet on the planet. He’s had a pretty steady stream of bit parts on tv shows ever since, so you can’t really feel bad for him.
Regardless, I officially dedicate this blog to John Posey, the one that got away! Tune in Friday for a review of Season 1 as a whole. Next week we’ll go back to posting episode reviews each Friday, starting with the premier of Season 2!

Eager to shed her longtime 'good girl' image (even if it's just for one night), DJ joins forces with Kimmy and Dwayne to pull off the ultimate senior prank. Using a crane to lift the principal's car onto the school roof seems too perfect to be true, but just as DJ is basking in her very first act of rebellion, she and her uncle Jesse are headed for a heap of trouble on the school grounds. Meanwhile, Becky and Michelle have some fun of their own when they decide to cook dinner for the family, but their efforts may end up causing more trouble than they're worth. Crushed when she receives a rejection letter from Stanford University, DJ is left with a feeling of uncertainty about her future. Kimmy, who knows that DJ will still be attending an excellent school somewhere, is concerned about what will happen to their friendship when high school is over. Unable to cope with the idea of losing her best pal, Kimmy decides that her best option is to elope immediately with her plumber boyfriend Duane. When DJ catches wind of this, she and Nelson fly down to Reno and change her mind, but when she leaves a note for her father explaining her wherabouts, a freakish misunderstanding prompts a frantic Danny to believe that DJ and Nelson are the ones getting hitched!
Meanwhile, Joey is excited for the opportunity to meet with Queen Elizabeth, but his improper etiquette at the reception leads to serious trouble. Jesse couldn't be more delighted when he learns that Stephanie is interested in starting a band with her friends, and he agrees to be their manager as they prepare for a talent show gig at the Smash Club. Unfortunately, for the girls, primping themselves with makeup and costumes seems far more important than actually practicing, and when Jesse becomes frustrated with their attitudes, he forfeits his participation, forcing his niece and her friends to do it all on their own. Meanwhile, DJ impresses Danny and Joey with her investment project for an economics class, but things get a little problematic when they decide to invest some real money. As Danny prepares for his first Valentine's Day with Claire, Becky gets excited about what Jesse will have set up for them this year, but she is disappointed to find that he appears to be losing interest in being the King of Romance he once was. With this exciting day approaching, even Michelle's third grade class gets into the spirit.
With their class party coming up, Lisa has the bright idea of pairing all the girls up with the boys, and Michelle and Teddy are placed together. Determined to turn up the heat a little bit, Michelle's efforts to push the romance only end up alienating Teddy. Joey, too, is having some relationship woes of his own; he has received a gift from a secret admirer, but he is afraid that it's from Mrs. Carruthers, the obnoxious woman who can't seem to keep herself away.

When she volunteers as a coach for a charity basketball game, DJ chooses Danny, Joey, and Jesse to play on her team. The only problem is that Jesse can barely dribble a ball (literally) and despite a cram practice session with the guys, he seems to be a hopeless case. But when a certain NBA sensation shows up at the basketball court, will he have what it takes to prepare Jesse for the big event? Meanwhile, Becky-who doesn't have the heart to be honest about a hideous blouse that Stephanie made for her at school-opts instead to sport it in public. Stephanie and Gia manage to snag the attention of two gorgeous guys at the mall, who just happen to attend DJ's high school. After fabricating a bit about their ages and where they go to school, the girls get behind the wheel with Jason and Barry, who turn out to be very reckless drivers.
Later that night, the guys show up at the Tanner house to take Stephanie on another ride, and because Danny is not aware of the situation, it's up to DJ to somehow protect her sister. Meanwhile, Michelle asks Jesse for help with her video game, then lives to regret it when all the adults in the family become overly obsessed and take over.
Now that his new band, Hot Daddy and the Monkey Puppets, is officially underway, Jesse invites Becky and the twins to accompany him on a trip for their very first weekend gig. The group bunks in a hotel that Jesse used to stay at years ago, when he was a younger band player, but now that he is a grown man with a wife and kids of his own, will the youthful memories have the same effect? Meanwhile, major sparks fly between DJ and one of Jesse's grungy young band members, and when Danny expresses his discomfort about them being together, DJ ends up making a very uncharacteristic decision. When your substitute teacher is somebody you live with, it's hard to maintain a fine line between the two.
This is the case when Michelle whose third grade class is in need of a substitue begs Joey to fill the position. Eager to work with the children and be a good role model, Joey does his best to make a good impression, but when class begins, all the kids want is a free comedy session.
When their out-of-control behavior prompts Joey to get tough, he ends up sending Michelle to the principal's office a decision that places a serious damper on their close bond. Meanwhile, Jesse reluctantly agrees to let Danny audition as a guitarist for his new band, but what Jesse doesn't realize is that this longtime king of spic and span also knows how to rock 'n roll! Michelle is excited to be part of her very own secret club with some friends, but things get messy when Danny accidentally reveals that he knows about the Mighty Mutant Super Kids, and Michelle's buddies kick her out of the group. Alienated by his daughter, Danny just might have a shot at redeeming himself when Joey gives him a little heads-up about a potential peace offering at a local toy store.

Meanwhile, shortly after DJ breaks up with Nelson, she is taken aback when a certain friend tries wiggling her way into his heart. It doesn't seem that long ago when Danny was nostalgically taking his baby Michelle to preschool, but now, four years later, it is Jesse and Becky's turn to fret as their twin boys approach this important childhood milestone.
With Becky's emotionally unstable reaction to the boys heading to school for the first time, Jesse offers to take them to their classroom, but before long, a string of events prompts Jesse to transform his children into the youngest dropouts in San Francisco. Meanwhile, Gia's influence inspires Stephanie to assert herself with her father, but have you ever seen Danny Tanner react calmly to a dirty bedroom and midriff-baring outfits?
The unaired pilot is the same as the first episode, Danny is not played by Bob Saget. Perhaps if John Posey had been Danny Tanner it would have been okay, but nobody can replace him! All the other characters are the same. The script seems to be the same.
I'm guessing the directors and producers didn't care for John Posey's Danny Tanner, or maybe there's some other reason they decided to go with Bob Saget? In any means, I'm just glad Bob Saget got this part! He was excellent. But I am happy they put this unaired pilot on the DVD set. If they hadn't, I would have always wondered!
